How many local authorities are there in London?

London has 33 local authorities in total: 32 London borough councils plus the City of London Corporation. The City of London is a small, historic area with its own unique local authority, separate from the 32 boroughs that cover the rest of the capital and handle most local services like housing, schools, and rubbish collection. There is also the Greater London Authority, which coordinates across boroughs at a regional level, but it isn’t a local authority delivering those day-to-day services.
