Puritans were described as which group?

Puritans were a Protestant reform movement within the Church of England who sought to purify worship and doctrine by removing practices they viewed as remnants of Catholicism and by insisting on plain, Scripture-based worship. They emphasized strict moral conduct and personal piety, aiming to make church services simpler and more focused on the Bible. This makes the description of them as Protestants advocating strict and simple religious practices the best fit. The other options describe Catholics, 18th-century landowners, or Welsh local leaders, none of which capture who Puritans were.
