Richard Austen Butler was a member of which political party?

Richard Austen Butler, known as Rab Butler, was a Conservative Member of Parliament. The question asks about his party affiliation, and his long career as a leading figure in the Conservative Party, including his influential role in postwar policy (notably the education reforms associated with his name), makes this the best fit. He is not described as a Labour MP, a Welsh poet, or a British economist, so those options don’t align with his political identity.
