The National Eisteddfod of Wales is best described as what type of event?

Understanding what the National Eisteddfod of Wales is about relies on recognizing it's a yearly festival that celebrates Welsh arts and language. It brings together a wide range of competitions and performances—music, poetry, literature, storytelling, and more—held each year in a different town across Wales. The emphasis is on Welsh culture, with many events conducted in Welsh, though some pieces may be bilingual. This makes it distinct from a sports competition or a political convention, and broader than a simple music festival, so the best description is an annual cultural festival with performances largely in Welsh.
