When is the Mercury Prize awarded?

The key point is when the prize ceremony takes place. The Mercury Prize is awarded at a ceremony held in September each year, with the summer activity often focusing on the shortlist announced earlier in July. So while the announcements around nominations happen in July or August, the actual award is given in September. That makes September the month you’d expect the winner to be announced, not July, August, or October.
