When was the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrated?

A Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of the monarch’s reign. The Queen began her reign in 1952, so 60 years later falls in 2012. That’s why the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in 2012. The other years don’t line up with 60 years from 1952 (2005 is 53 years, 2010 is 58, 2011 is 59). In 2012 there were nationwide celebrations across the UK to mark that 60-year milestone.
